Dragonfly Mini-Artist Journal

Dragonfly Mini-Artist Journal

This journal came about as a DT project using papers from Luise Heinzl’s collection: Dragonfly Lover’s Notebook and Blueberry Morning Junk Journal Kits. What started off as a simple design team project, developed into a rather massive massif replete with handmade ephemera, papers, and tags.

The specimen tag (produced after a lengthy tussle with tape and glue by “M” was the flashpoint for all to come both in its content and execution. Inspirational addibles that lead to what you see here today! The bar was high because the specimen tag was a pièce de résistance so all that came after it had to be of comparable quality. Speaking here as “P”, it needs to be said that even though there are flaws, failures, and foibles present in the final form, those will be forgiven when viewed in their entirety.

The physical structure, the housing of the journal was created from one long piece of white kraft paper (the kind on the huge roll) that was folded, creased, and dyed in a wash of diluted watercolor crystals. “M” determined the pocket size (a bit of revision now and again as the number of ephemera multiplied (shocking we know, hahaha), added the trim and created most of the tags while “P” (me) worked on the 2 booklets — constantly getting “M” to help with anything related to fussy cutting or measuring — so that’s how it went down!

Don’t let her tattered and worn character (intentional and not easy to pull off) fool you! Within her overstuffed pockets are gems of fancy waiting for a gentle tug of the hand to remove them for further perusal. We invite you to enjoy her as much as we “P&M” did making her.
