Each month, a new trio of colors is announced for participants to incorporate into their creations. The only stipulation is that black, white, and metallics are always welcome to be added, giving artists the freedom to experiment while maintaining a sense of cohesion within the exercise. It’s a wonderful opportunity for members of the Makers of Mixed Media Art & Artists group to explore new color palettes, share ideas, and inspire each other.
The community aspect of the Colour Combo exercise is one of its standout features. With every month, the artists who take part in the event connect, exchange feedback, and showcase their unique interpretations of the chosen color combination. Whether creating abstract pieces, textured collages, or intricate designs, participants often surprise themselves with the diverse outcomes that emerge from the same color guidelines. This fosters a supportive environment where both novice and seasoned artists can celebrate their creativity and grow.
In 2025, the Colour Combo exercise is taking things to the next level by introducing a new twist—mark-making. This added element will push participants to think more creatively and strategically as they blend the colors with the challenge of incorporating distinctive marks into their work. The upcoming change promises to add an exciting new dimension to the exercise, encouraging fresh perspectives and experimentation. Whether you’re a long-time participant or just discovering the Colour Combo, it’s a great way to expand your artistic horizons and join a vibrant, supportive community.
