WEAVING PAPER | Using Leftover Scraps

WEAVING PAPER | Using Leftover Scraps

Making a weaving from “catch paper” (the leftovers from – the paper used to keep sprays from going all over the place) papers is what is happening in what is our second video in the Rusty Metal Embellishment series.

Our video will take you through the process where the catch paper becomes the warp (vertical) paper strips were created is also here so watch it first to see the origins of the paper strips used in this weaving. An original, printed pattern paper (Sample Pack available here for FREE DOWNLOAD ) digitally designed by M (using sketches I made) is the weft (horizontal).

It is that mentality that says, “waste not, want not” that drives much of what I do and this project embraces that ethic. Paper repurposed is paper that doesn’t end up in a landfill and how wonderful is it to make something beautiful out of trash?! True junk journal aficionados will understand and appreciate this effort and hopefully will add this visual technique to their journals. What’s nice about this idea is it can be ‘dressed for company’, as was done here, or distressed, splattered, stamped into something with quite a different look to it. Ideas on that are most welcome—do share!
