Old is New with Froyle Davies
The June Makers Collaboration theme, Old Is New, presents Froyle Davies using swapped art items from Patricia and Mariah at PM Artist Studio in the wonderful #OldIsNew YouTube Mixed Media Swap & Make Hop on June 17, 2023.
The Challenge
Froyle gets into the spirit of the challenge with four concepts: Transparent, Metallic, Yarn, and Fiber, an exchange with PM Artist Studio for this Collab. Froyle begins with a brilliant Image Transfer.
Gel Plate Tip: Great image transfers begin with high quality laser print images. Inkjets need not apply.
The Art
Working in an art journal, Froyle weaves her inimitable style on a gel plate with some metallic paint and yarn in a bold and simple design.
“When you’re gelli printing, why print one when you can print 10!?” ~Froyle
She hits her stash up for some incredible mixed media textures to get the collage started. Along the way, I saw her use the very stylish Nested Circles Foam Stamps from PM Artist Studio for finishing touches.
