Gel Plate Prints | Wallpaper, Old Wall, or “Wall Prints”

Gel Plate Prints | Wallpaper, Old Wall, or “Wall Prints”

“Old Wall” prints – Sometimes they are so beautiful as is that nothing needs to be done. Other times they are… well, not so interesting and need a little something else done to make them in order to move to the “Keep” pile. The key to any transformation is TRANSPARENT paint (we have a guide, click here) because you want to see “the wall” but add a bit of design interest to it to give it a bit of a boost.

Here are some considerations:
1) What color is the “wall print”?
2) Consult your color wheel to see what will transpire by the addition of the color you are choosing. Here is a great set for artists click here.
3) When adding a stamp, stencil, or mask to the paint on the plate, choose a pattern that will enhance the print rather than dominate it. Subtlety is key at this stage and also allows for numerous layers each building more complexity to your print.
